About the Author
Dennis Klocek is a teacher, researcher, artist, gardener, and alchemist. He graduated with an MFA in 1975 from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. He then taught for seven years at a community college. In 1982, his love for the work of Rudolf Steiner took him to Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento, California, where he has been the director of their Consciousness Studies Program (“Goethean Studiesâ€) since 1992. Dennis is engaged in research, teaching, and writing in many fields, including weather, gardening, meditation, the human organism, and self-transformation. He founded the Coros Institute to teach and promote dialogue experiences based on esoteric wisdom. If there were ever a book to meditate upon during this winter, it would be Dennis Klocek's most recent book, Sacred Agriculture: The Alchemy of Biodynamics. As a biodynamic farmer and a practicing Jungian analyst, I feel greatly enriched by this book.It is a book best read aloud slowly, and perhaps with friends. Not that Klocek's language is difficult--the chapters are conversational. Any of us who have heard him speak can almost hear his voice, recognize his cadence, delighting in the characteristic flash of brilliance suddenly stepping from behind a genuine folksy style.But the matter of the book is truly evolutionary, a new paradigm. Yes, Klocek is giving his own version of what he thinks Rudolf Steiner meant in the 1924 series of lectures that became the bible of Biodynamics: Agriculture Course: Birth of the Biodynamic Method (and this definitely is best to be read aloud with friends!)Klocek not only develops Steiner's work, making it accessible, but he also goes further, offering matrixes and meditations as guides and tools in developing an evolving consciousness that may well shift our relationship to ourselves, to each other, to the earth and cosmos.It is a book well worth the study, a pulling back of the veil that separates the materialist thinking processes of so-called scientific methods from the development and use of grounded Imagination.
Just starting this heavy duty work by Dennis Klocek, a master alchemist. I put off buying it for a few years, my loss. I will probably update this review as I go deeper. As for now I’m fascinated by his scope and breadth of anthroposophy, biodynamics, history and much more. Check out his many lectures on YouTube.

This book contains within it the answer to any question you could ever conceive related to Biodynamics. Dennis Klocek puts Steiner's work into a fully comprehensible information dense format.Do not hesitate to buy if you have any interest in agriculture whatsoever.
Very explanatory as to why bio dynamic preparations are effective. Also a good introduction to the actual meaning of alchemy. A bit repetitive at the end. Well worth the effort to chew yourself through this book
I am halfway through this extraordinary book, and feel compelled to write a review. Anyone interested in understanding, and not just practicing, biodynamics should put this on their bookshelf as a reference manual. However, even if you have no interest in agriculture, and your interest is only in alchemy, this book will allow you to see the world through the eyes of Rudolf Steiner - an extraordinary gift of immeasurable value. I have underlined significant passages and marked notes in the margins of my copy, and I hope I can still reread it by the time I am finished. A novice to alchemy or biodynamics may have trouble with some of the concepts, however, the book is still written clearly enough that it would be of value to anyone wanting to make a study of the subject, even if coming at it for the first time. I give many thanks to the author!
